TMZ CompositeRay J insists Kris Jenner was smack in the middle of negotiating Kim and Ray J's sex tape, but we've learned the businesswoman of the century was hands-off when the deal was cut.
Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ, Kris never negotiated with Vivid Entertainment, which distributed the tape back in 2007. We're told Kim and Ray J dealt with Vivid directly and with their lawyers.
In his interview, Ray J maintains Kris and Kim hatched the plot to make and peddle a sex tape in the wake of the enormous financial success of Paris Hilton's. Sources on the other side dispute that, maintaining she had nothing to do with planning the tape, and we've learned Kris was hands-off making the actual deal and had no contact with Vivid.
VividOf course, that doesn't mean Kris wasn't working behind the scenes, as Ray J claims.
As we've reported over the years, although the Kardashians claimed they never signed off on the tape, the reality is that Vivid could not have released it without the signatures of Kim and Ray ... if it did, there would be a slam dunk lawsuit, because Vivid could not use the name or likeness of anyone on tape without their consent.
GettyKim actually sued Vivid before the tape was released and that lawsuit was dropped ... we're told because she and Ray cut the deal they wanted and that cleared the path for the release of the video.
As for $$$ ... we've learned Kim and Ray split a $1 million advance, and together they got a percentage of profits from the tape. It's the highest-grossing sex tape of all time, beating out Paris Hilton's.

The singer spilled the alleged beans to DailyMail.com -- telling the outlet he's furious the Kardashians have essentially accused him of holding an unreleased sex tape over their heads ... and that he was the one who leaked the OG tape in the first place.
VividHe insists the truth is the exact opposite -- namely, that the "leak" wasn't that at all ... but a systematic deal brokered between himself, Kim and Kris Jenner and Vivid Entertainment.
Here's how it allegedly went down, according to Ray J ... he says that while he and Kim were dating, he jokingly floated the idea of putting out a sex tape of theirs in the wake of Paris Hilton's video leaking -- which elevated her status and celebrity.
GettyWhile he claims he didn't really mean it, Ray alleges Kim jumped on the idea ... going to her mom, talking it out and then getting the wheels in motion on the whole thing, which he says he was not really privy to until it came to signing away the rights.
Ray says he and Kim both signed a contract, and the rest is history.

Ray claims he's never been in possession of any copies, and that he's been fuming over the fact the Kardashians have made it seem of late he had more footage and that he was on the verge of releasing it. He did, in fact, give Kanye West a computer and hard drive with some personal content between him and Kim ... but argues there was nothing explicit on it.

In one of the first few episodes, Kim and co. apparently joke about Ray putting a dildo in her butt, which he's irate over ... saying they made him look bad.
It'll be interesting to see how the Kardashians respond, especially since Kris/Kim have long denied being involved in the release of the tape ... despite most people not believing them.

YE TO THE RESCUEKanye West appeared for the first time on "The Kardashians" and he came off as the hero, as Kim Kardashian sobbed after he retrieved the hard drive containing her full sex tape video.
It's a fascinating encounter ... Kim and Kanye were going through their divorce at the time, but he seemed like family as he first interacted with a very grateful Kris Jenner before watching Kim unzip the suitcase that contained the hard drive.

Getty CompositeThere's apparently only one Kim Kardashian and Ray J sex tape in the Universe ... and while Kim's thankful Kanye recently retrieved a laptop with footage from Ray, we're told there's nothing sexual about the unseen content.
Kanye made waves during his Hollywood Unlocked interview Monday when he shared he'd delivered the device to Kim during her recent stint on 'SNL,' causing her to cry happy tears when she saw it.
Many speculated the laptop contained a rumored second sex tape between Ray J and Kim -- but a rep for Kim tells us that's just not the case -- "After review, there was nothing sexual unseen, only footage on the plane on the way to Mexico and footage at a club and restaurant on the same trip. Kim remains firm in her belief that there is no new second tape that exists." Page 6 first had the statement.
GettySources close to Kim tell us while the sex tape has been a source of embarrassment, she won't forget Kanye's gesture in retrieving the material from Ray J.
The source notes that both Kim and Kanye are sensitive as co-parents, and how the continued talk of the tape may affect their kids, "Especially when it's continued to be brought up in a way that's thoughtless and intended to cause more pain."
Interestingly -- it's been Ray J's former manager, Wack 100, who teased the existence of a second sex tape since last year -- and Kanye's been hanging with Wack lately. Kanye says he had met with Ray in Florida and was given the laptop.
It sounds like Kim wants to leave the sex tape stuff behind, with her rep telling us, "After 20 years, she truly wishes to move on from this chapter with focus instead on the positive things she continues to do as a mother, entrepreneur and advocate for justice reform.”

We got the singer out Monday night at Craig's and asked if he'd seen Kylie Jenner's alleged sex tape with Tyga -- which turned out to be a hoax.

Kanye West is a hypocrite for embracing his wife's sex tape now that it suits his purposes, after blasting Ray J for daring to write a song about the famous video ... at least that's what Ray has been telling his crew.
We're told Ray is livid that Kanye rhapsodized about the sex tape during the VMAs ... even giving him a shout-out. You'll recall after Ray J dropped "I Hit it First," Kanye called him "Brandy's little sister" and threw in "lame" for bad measure.

In case you're not up to date ... Kanye went on "The Breakfast Club" and said it was hard for him to move on to Kim after being with Amber, saying, "I had to take 30 showers before I got with Kim."
Amber is not backing down. She's already called Kim a whore and Kanye is doing Kim's bidding.

Ray J is like a bad habit Kim Kardashian just can't kick, because he's just made an offer to buy a house on her street!
Kim's former sex tape partner just wrote a $2.7 million offer to buy a Hidden Hills mansion 8 doors down from Kim and Kanye.
Ray and his business manager, David Weintraub, perused the grounds Friday afternoon and then wrote the offer. BTW, it's pretty baller ... there's even 3 horse stalls.
As for why he wants to live so close to Kim, Ray says it's already his hood. He lived in the vicinity longer than Kim so if anything she's the carpetbagger.

Ray J has a knack for making money when Kim Kardashian gets naked ... and he hit the jackpot again with last week's nude photos.
The photos triggered renewed interest in "Kim K Superstar," and our sources at Vivid Entertainment say sales of the video have dramatically spiked ... so much so, Ray J will pocket $50K from the last week alone ... way up from what's he's been getting.
Ray has been getting around $90K every 3 months, so this is a real ass-tronomical increase.
Steve Hirsch, president of Vivid Entertainment, tells TMZ, the most recent spike makes "Kim K Superstar" the biggest selling celebrity sex tape of all time.
Until last week, the title holders were Pam Anderson and Tommy Lee.

Don't get your hopes up -- a new Kim Kardashian sex tape featuring Kanye West will never see the light of day because ... it just doesn't exist.
Sources close to the couple say Kim was purposely being coy during her recent British GQ interview ... where she hinted about doing a sex tape sequel -- this time with Yeezus.
Kim told the mag, "My husband Kanye and I have an amazing sex life. So far as the sex tape is concerned, whether or not we've made another ... If we have, it's never something I want to go public."
We're told what really happened is that Kim didn't wanna talk about her sex life because she's super private about that -- and instead of just shutting down the interviewer ... she decided to playfully tease.

Regrets ... Ray J's had more than a few, and he lays them all out in a new song that includes a not-even-thinly veiled shot at his ex sex tape partner Kim Kardashian.
