As part of the 50 days, 50 Argentina World Cup moments, we will be counting down the top 50 Argentina moments at a World Cup using the daily number.

We are just 32 days until the start of the FIFA World Cup and in 32nd place we have Hernan CRESPO scoring his 32nd goal for Argentina against Mexico at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Perhaps a match that is mostly remembered for an absolute dream goal by Maxi RODRIGUEZ, there were still two others which were scored prior to that goal by Maxi. A repeat of the 2005 Confederations Cup semi-final match, Argentina took on Mexico in the Round of 16 of the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Rafa MARQUEZ opened the scoring for Mexico early in the match but the lead didn’t last long. A corner kick by Juan Roman RIQUELME landed onto the edge of the foot of Hernan CRESPO and just like that, Argentina’s number 9 had scored his 32nd goal for his country.

The match needed extra time (although it shouldn’t have gone that far as Lionel MESSI had a goal which was wrongly disallowed for offside) and in those extra 30 minutes, we saw one of the best goals in the history of that competition.

Lionel MESSI to Juan Pablo SORIN who sent in a cross to Maxi RODRIGUEZ and well, we all know the rest.

Here was the starting XI for the match:

1. Roberto ABBONDANZIERI
2. Roberto AYALA
3. Juan Pablo SORIN
5. Esteban CAMBIASSO
6. Gabriel HEINZE
7. Javier SAVIOLA
8. Javier MASCHERANO
9. Hernan CRESPO
10. Juan ROman RIQUELME
13. Lionel SCALONI
18. Maxi RODRIGUEZ
